Our Founder and MD, Mr. Shriram Subramanian, has authored an insightful article on Moneycontrol sharing his perspective on the gig economy in India, its rapid expansion, and the significant challenges it faces.

He discusses the vital role that gig workers play in the operations of major companies especially in transportation, food delivery, and home services.

The article highlights the strains on the relationship between gig workers and these companies, such as the lack of employee recognition, inconsistent wages, lack of pay transparency, absence of benefits like ESIC and PF, no social or job security, opaque AI-driven decisions for employment, long unregulated hours, arbitrary commission deductions, and undefined work environments.

Mr. Subramanian also suggests collaborative strategies like upskilling the workforce, fostering innovation, and improving worker well-being that companies and lawmakers can implement to ensure the gig economy continues to thrive in India.

As India's gig economy continues to grow, a focus on collaboration and shared responsibility by policymakers, governments, and companies will be critical in ensuring its long-term success and positive impact on millions of lives.
